BBC News has posted excerpts from a new London exhibition of photographs by Allen Ginsberg called "Angelheaded Hipsters", featuring images of counterculture icons from the 50s and 60s including Ken Kesey, Neal Cassady and Timothy Leary, among others. But the most revealing photo is this unusually intimate portrait of William Burroughs, in an unguarded moment, lying on the floor reading. Burroughs projected a fairly tough persona when he was photographed, often holding firearms of various kinds, so it's fairly uncommon to see an image like this 1953 photograph, presenting a rare glimpse into the domestic life of the iconic American author.
