As the cloud wars gather pace, anonymous music executives have leaked to the New York Times that Google is planning an MP3 store and storage service to compete with Apple and Amazon. The company had tried to reach a similar deal earlier in the year, but ultimately failed when music labels decided Google was not putting enough effort into curbing piracy. Now that Apple has launched its iCloud service, however, a precedent has been set which will probably facilitate the process, much in the same way that iTunes did for MP3 downloads.
