Scientists announced the discovery of a successful HIV vaccine trial on humans at a conference in Bangkok, Thailand, last week.  Results from the experiment showed that individuals who were given the vaccine were 30% less likey to have contracted the virus after three years. The success of the experiment represents a major breakthrough in the field, which is likely to pave the way for new avenues of research.
